I have been working with a fifth grader since the beginning of last school year. He was new to our school and has a lot of difficulties in the classroom due to his dyslexia. I have gotten to know him and I work with him at the end of every day to help read his tests and homework to him. When time allows us, we play multiplication war and other literacy card games. In the beginning, he was very quiet. He would shut down in frustration, and didn’t like coming to school. He has blossomed so much with having our time set aside each day to work one-on-one. He is proud of the work is doing and the scores he is getting. We have developed a great student-teacher relationship.
