Future Cities Super Star Wins at National Competition

Earlier this year, LSEM introduced four children who were “fearfully and wonderfully made.” One of these children, Ethan, participates in the Future Cities program at St. John Lutheran School in Rochester, Michigan. We are so pleased to share that this February, Ethan and his teammates won second place in the nationwide Future Cities Competition, held in Washington, DC. It also won an award for “Best City for People with Disabilities,” an award sponsored by the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Click on this link to learn more about Ethan and his amazing teammates!

Ethan’s Future Cities’ coordinator, John Pfund, and his resource room teacher, Shane Schwichtenberg, praise Ethan’s big heart and dedication to fixing complex problems.  His parents credit Mrs. Schwichtenberg’s approach to learning for his success and happiness with school. Being in the resource room allows him to have a little fun but then get down to the hard work of learning. LSEM and the Future City program allow Ethan to bring his love of technology to school and lets him be himself.

His sense of humor and natural desire to help others will get Ethan far in life, and those around him can’t wait to see what God has in store for him in the future.
