Nomination Criteria

Nominees for the 2026 Kathy A. Krause Resource Room Teacher of the Year award should meet the following criteria…

• Shows an understanding of how serving students who require additional academic assistance helps our schools achieve Jesus’ call for us through the Great Commission
• Currently serves as certified resource room teacher in a Christian elementary or secondary school (nominees are not required to be in a school with an LSEM partnership).
• Demonstrates a commitment to meeting the needs of all learners within the school community
• Actively working to create an academically inclusive environment within their resource room or the classrooms in which they work
• Develops a classroom culture where students feel welcomed, safe, and supported
• Advocates for the needs of students with learning disabilities to classroom teachers, parents, and appropriate public school and community agencies
• Builds relationships within the school and the local community that benefit the learning environment of the school

Nomination Process:
To be considered for this award, a nominee must submit a letter of nomination, explaining how the candidate meets the criteria. Nominations should be no longer than 1 page and must be submitted to LSEM before the nomination deadline of December 31, 2025.
