Richard Schumacher – Senior Director of Operations

Richard has been a member of the National Office team at LSEM since 2014. His primary role is to oversee LSEM’s partnerships with schools around the world. He works with school administrators to develop partnership agreements, participates in the hiring and evaluation of teachers, and works to support the ministry initiatives of LSEM. He also writes many of the devotions which accompany our newsletters and hosts the Lutheran Education Podcast, sponsored by LSEM.
Richard is a two-time graduate of Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Michigan, having earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education, an LTD, and a master’s degree in educational leadership. Prior to working for LSEM, Richard served as a teacher, athletic director, youth director, and principal at LCMS schools in Kansas City, Kansas, and Westland, Michigan. He also spent six years as a member of the faculty of the School of Education at Concordia, Ann Arbor.
Richard and his wife Linda (Laux) have two adult children, Wesley and Emma. Away from the office, Richard enjoys rooting for his favorite sports teams, fishing, gardening with Linda, and collecting vintage baseball cards.
