A Thank You to Our Teachers

COVID-19 has certainly changed the educational landscape of this country. School buildings have been closed for weeks and will not open again until the Fall. However, school is still in session. Our teachers are still teaching. They have been working hard to make sure that their students still get the help that they need. Especially children who have a learning need.

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, this Wow story is honoring our teachers’ work, their commitment, and their ingenuity. This is what LSEM teachers do. They try all different kinds of ways to educate students. We are used to thinking outside of the box.  We use a lot of trial and error until we find a way for that child to understand and learn successfully. Our programs and support are based on being individualistic and unique to each child. THIS is why LSEM has been so adept at handling this new educational situation.

Having to teach in a new way and utilize new technology and methods isn’t as frightening a prospect for our teachers because that’s what they do every day. They are constantly readjusting their teaching methods in order to figure out the best method to reach a student. It’s all just happening on a different platform – from home.

Our teachers aren’t panicking. They are used to being calm in stressful educational situations. They are used to being asked to do teaching that isn’t “normal.” In a way, this is just another day for our teachers.

Rest assured that LSEM is doing everything possible to make sure that children with learning needs continue to receive the teaching and support that they need.
