Teaching Outside a Resource Room

Sometimes, our teachers don’t teach in their own classroom. There are many different ways that LSEM is available to help schools and their students, and while we pride ourselves on our Resource Rooms as and having that special space for kids to get help and learn, sometimes that’s not where the student is best served. Kathleen Gerds shares a quick story about how teaching outside a resource room has been especially beneficial to one of her students.

“I have been assisting a student one-on-one in the general education classroom for Social Studies and Science. The student has started following along with the lesson and participating. It has been a big improvement for this student. He is doing a much better job in participation and is understanding what is expected.”
