LSEM Student Uses Dance to Express her Love of Jesus

In February, LSEM introduced you to MaLeah Wischnack, a “triple threat” that dances, sings, and is a wonderful friend to everyone she meets. At Emmanuel Lutheran School in Hamburg, Minnesota, this fifth grader is known as the star of the school play whose motto is “always be kind.”

According to her parents, MaLeah always loved movement. After taking gymnastics, she followed a friend to dance class and has been tapping and pirouetting ever since. Her dad, Tim Wischnack, admits that while sometimes her constant toe-tapping can make him crazy, he is proud of her ability to pick up a new routine quickly and work hard until it is perfect.

Those skills are helpful in the classroom as well, where LSEM teacher Terri Bentz got to know MaLeah better when she directed the school play. Her energy and enthusiasm, and her ability to listen and take direction, helps on stage and in the “tree house”—Mrs. Bentz’s resource room where MaLeah gets help for reading.

While MaLeah decides between being an OB nurse or a teacher, her mom, Julie, can’t wait to see what God has planned for her, and knows that she will be a superstar in whatever she decides to do. Her talents, whether it’s dancing, singing or being a friend to others, help her give praise to God and are a light to those around her.
