John 12:23-24 – Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”
These verses give us a beautiful picture of the necessary sacrifice of our Savior. A kernel of wheat must be buried in the ground before it can become a blade of wheat producing more seeds. The kernel must die, before it can become a plant and live. Jesus had to die to pay for our sin. But death did not hold him in the tomb. Christ has power over death. His resurrection showed His victory! Because Jesus is God, He offers us eternal life to all who believe in Him. Jesus knew His crucifixion lay ahead. He knew His purpose for coming into this world. Christ was to take on the sins of God’s people upon Himself. Satan has great power but He has no power over our Savior. We rejoice Christ’s victory over death because that makes us conquerors over Satan.
We look forward to eternal life that is given to us because of Christ’s victory over the cross and His resurrection. 2 Timothy 2:11 says, “If we died with him, we will also live with him…” God is faithful to His children. He promises us eternal life with Him. Death is not the end, it is only hurdle we shall overcome because of the “Blood of the Lamb.” Amen!
