He Chose You!
1 Peter 2:9 – “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
Doesn’t it sometimes seem humorous who God chooses to do His work? Some of us probably never imagined we would be parents. But God is using us for this important task of raising His children. You are chosen!
As parents and adults we have a tremendous amount of influence on our children. So all adults have been chosen to be God’s representatives to His children. It may be difficult for some to believe you have been chosen but look at the gospels and the Spirit will assist you in discovering there is no particular reason that God cannot choose you.
When Jesus wanted to change the world and turn it upside down, look at whom he called to be part of his cabinet. We call them disciples, but before Jesus entered their lives, for the most part, they were a bunch of nobodies as far as the world was concerned.
They were used by Christ to spread the Gospel. Jesus informed them He must leave but He would not leave them alone. The Comforter, the Holy Spirit would be with them to guide, direct and give them words to say to give Him the glory! Parents are willing role models, mentors and teachers used to nurture and develop strong faith in our children.
Our God who loves us so much that He gave us His Son. Our God whose love is steadfast in our lives, even if our love for Him is not consistent. Our God who wants the very best for us, and knows that involves a relationship with Him and a life lived in service of Him and those whom we are responsible. Jesus came to be one of us that we could have experience of heaven in our lives, now. We show our children this by following His example so that they may become glimpses of heaven on earth. He chose you for this awesome task. We respond by shining His light to all. He chose you! Amen.
