Honoring the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Two LSEM students from St. John’s Lutheran School in Chaska, MN were selected to have the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Every year, eighth graders from St John’s take a trip to Washington, DC in the fall. They visit memorials and learn about our nation’s capital and history. One stop for the kids is at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, where two St John’s students participate in a ceremony and lay a wreath at the Tomb. 

Student names are drawn from a hat, and as luck would have it, the two chosen this year happened to be LSEM students! “It was a cool experience, and an honor to lay the wreath.” What a special, memorable trip! Check out the video to see part of the ceremony.
